SERVICE TO SOCIETY

The Unika Group, including the domestic Japanese company Unika Co., has developed into a global business with manufacturing and marketing activities in both China and Vietnam, and both the scale and scope of our operations is expanding every year.

For such a global business expansion to operate smoothly in any given country or region, we are strongly aware of how very important it is that the Unika Group be viewed favorably, and this is a key principle of our management approach.

As a field for actualizing that principle, we identified the strong need in Japan, where the number of senior citizens is growing very quickly, for nursing assistance so that all elderly persons may live out the rest of their lives with dignity and ease. Recognizing that nursing assistance services for the elderly would be an ideal contribution to society, the Unika Group established UNICARE NET SERVICEs Co., Ltd. in 2007.

Komorebi Oizumi Day Service Center

We started by opening the Komorebi Oizumi Day Service Center in southeastern Gunma Prefecture, the district where the Unika Group originated and still has deep roots. The center has now completed three years of operation without any problems or incidents, and the users and their families are very grateful On the basis of this experience, Unicare is currently drawing up various plans for expansion of this service in Japan.

In other countries too, Unika Group companies are mindful of the potential for social contributions in the areas where they conduct their regular business. In Vietnam in particular, Unicare has started to provide active support for measures to prepare for the nursing care of the elderly population which will increase in the future.

Unicare has already begun to build a network of volunteers who understand the nursing care situations in various regions of Japan, from both academic and practical standpoints, and to provide support for the training of nursing professionals and the establishment of nursing care facilities for the elderly.

To provide organized support for such activities, we are currently making arrangements to form a nonprofit corporation that will operate with the participation of volunteer caregivers.

Unicare will continue to actively explore the potentials for making this kind of contribution to society the flip-side of Unika Group business operations in every country and region where the business is stable enough to support it.
